I have been following an online gallery for a while called Light Space & Time.   From month to month they have new juried competitions with varying subjects.  From the middle of March 2012 through the April 28, 2012 it was “NATURE”.  The next one coming up is “FIGURATIVE”.  Mostly I have only seen calls for 2D art, which leaves me out of the call.  Still it is fun to follow, the “NATURE” competition has some very beautiful pieces.  There are awards for 1st through 5th place, plus 5 Honorable Mentions.

A while ago I mentioned that I have been combing the internet to find art and artists that I love.  My plan was to compile a list, and to add a bunch of links all at once.  Well, I have been going at my usual unorganized snail pace on that one.  I am very much not a techy person, and I am not even sure how to make a blogroll happen.  I have gathered quite a list, and that is the next thing I am going to do on this blog.  Maybe even get it started here and now.  Wish me luck!  Here is a piece from one of my artists in my links, Patty Heibel, I am adding it as a tease for you to try her link!  Her work is very realistic and amazing!  Enjoy!

Ok, my attempt at adding a blogroll type of list of links did not work, so I am going to try this again, but in a different way.  Here is the link for Patty Heibel:  —————————————>

Here are some more that I liked, Wendy Rosen:  and

Floral Mini Series

July 7, 2011

OMG! What I had to go tthrough to get this pic just the way I wanted it!

My adventure here just got stepped up a notch!  I am not the most tech minded individual, but I am finding with perserverance I “Can Do!” what I need to do.  I wanted to use this picture of my Floral Mini Series which of course is already in my header, however it was customized to fit the banner and was not whole and complete.  Well…!  Thus began the adventure, because the original picture was not well balanced and had a ID tag from a show on the right side of the pic.  I wanted to export the cropped pic from Picasa to my pictures folder on my hard drive where I could easily upload to my blog.  I had never exported a picture from my Picasa site to anywhere and had to learn how to do it.  What fun, well not so much until I managed to ‘ read enuf tek babble’  in Picasa help to do what I wanted, then it suddenly was lots o’ fun!  Yea!

Now to the subject of todays’ blog, which is not my ‘babe in the ewoods-ness’ that I so clearly showed above.  It is my Floral Mini Series which began as miniture wall hangings.  My idea is that any decor can have these small spaces that just cry out for Art.  Yet finding interesting things to fill these small spaces could be a problem.  So I thought someone could order one of my minnies customized by color, size, type of flower (from among the ones I know how to make that is, that list is growing), and background colors.  Customization is really where I want to go with my work.  So far it has only been a concept, not a reality.   I am working on it.

A wonderful young lady that came into the gallery where I show my work at them and asked what the minnies were for.  Well, I of course launched into my explanation of my idea about small art for small spaces, and she looked at me kind of funny and said, “Ha Ha!  And I thought they were bracelets!”  She then asked me if I minded if she bought one and wore it as a bracelet.  I told her she could do what ever she wanted and it would be fine with me, I was just thrilled that she liked it enough to want wear it!  So began a more versatile use for my minnies.  I had ventured into bracelet making a few times before but mostly they felt too “crafty”.  Now I have a way to make them that satisfies my need for the “unique”.

In my bracelet adventure I have found that making them to a persons wrist size is the best way for me to make them the way I like them.  Not the easiest thing for me because I do not get around like I used to and meeting people to garner orders is not truly workable.  So I am working on a way to handle custom orders, online, through my blog.  A work in progress.
